GTMNERR Weekend Nature Movies – Ponte Vedra, Florida

Experience a visual journey as you travel through 20 fresh water estuaries that grace the sweeping curve of Wisconsin’s Lake at the GTM Research Reserve Environmental Education Center. “A String of Pearls –Wisconsin’s Estuaries Along Lake Superior” will be shown on the big screen at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays during September in the Center’s auditorium.

Directions: Off A1A 17 miles south of JTB or 8 miles north of Vilano Beach
Hours: 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children aged 10 to 17, children under 10 are FreeGTM Research Reserve

4th Annual Lowcountry Buddy Walk – Daniel Island, S.C.

Buddy-Walk-logo-2-color-linPlease join us for the 4th Annual Lowcountry Buddy Walk, Etiwan Park, Daniel Island. This year’s walk will be an afternoon filled with fantastic fun for the young and old.
Everything at the walk is included in the cost of your registration. Rest on your blankets under our tents. Enjoy the Knights of Columbus’s delicious hotdogs as well as snow cones and snacks provided by local businesses. Take home a tee-shirt, have your face painted, and enjoy lots of jump castles.

Check out the amazing talents of our friends with Down Syndrome and support them by parading through Daniel Island. At the end of the day, you will take home fond memories as well as a new or renewed appreciation for all the amazing people in our community with Down Syndrome.

Your support of the Buddy Walk will help provide programs such as baby packets for families of new babies with Down Syndrome, education for families and professionals and self-advocacy programs.

Free Screening of Maxed Out – Savannah, GA

Savannah Film SocietyThe City of Savannah and Step Up Savannah’s Poverty Reduction Initiative, as part of the 2007 National Mayors’ Dollar Wise Week, are sponsoring a free showing of “Maxed Out,” a feature-length film. This independent documentary takes a hard look at the nation’s multi-billion dollar credit card industry.
This show is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.
