Ben Folds – Savannah, Georgia
Although mostly noted for his prowess as a pianist, Ben Folds is also a talented multi-instrumentalist who serves as a studio drummer for other musicians in his current hometown of Nashville. His songs recall fellow piano men Billy Joel and Sir Elton John, with a extra infusion of energy and sardonic wit. After the breakup of Ben Folds Five, Folds went solo in 2001 with Rockin’ the Suburbs. His tours are famous for his solo act as “a man and a piano, often having the audience become involved by “playing” the accompanying instruments. And although Folds catalog of songs is a mile deep, his live shows never fail to include fan favorites from The Ben Folds Five days, such as “Philosophy,” “Brick,” and “Army”. His latest discs are Supersunnyspeedgraphic the LP, a compilation of songs originally released on EPs, and a live concert CD/DVD of a performance staged in front of a Nashville audience as MySpace’s first-ever live webcast.
