MUSC College of Medicine 21st Annual Charity Ball – Charleston, South Carolina

College of Medicine hopes to top the record setting $40,000 raised for charity in 2007.

The Medical University of South Carolina’s College of Medicine will hold its Twenty First Annual Charity Ball at the Omar Shrine Convention Center on Saturday, March 1, 2008 from 8:00 until 12:30. All are invited to attend this black tie optional event, including a silent auction, open bar, heavy hors d’oeuvres and entertainment provided by Permanent Vacation. The Charity Ball benefits local charities and is the College of Medicine’s largest single charitable event, planned entirely by medical students, raising over $270,000 in the past several years. This year’s proceeds will benefit Crisis Ministries, Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding, East Cooper Meals on Wheels, Lowcountry Food Bank, Rise Up and Read, and The CARES Clinic.

Royal Scots Dragoon Guards & The Band of the Coldstream Guards – Jacksonville, Florida

The Band of the Coldstream Guards has been known for their musical talents since 1742. Now they have teamed up with The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, Scotland’s only Regiment of Cavalry, in an evening of pomp and tradition.

16TH ANNUAL LIGHTHOUSE FESTIVAL & MICHELOB ULTRA 5K at  St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museumtakes place on Saturday, Mar. 15, 2008. Bring your family and join the fun when admission to the tower, grounds, and museum is free from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The historic Light Station will offer something for everyone, including local musicians and entertainers throughout the day, special games and crafts for children, food, living history portrayals, pony rides, terrestrial and maritime archaeology activities, contests and much more. The Shrimp Festival will dish out boatloads of fresh seafood and shrimp
dishes, as local volunteer organizations prepare and serve an astounding
assortment of menu items, including shrimp pie, shrimp twisters, crawfish,
Cajun shrimp etouffee, fried shrimp and shrimp jambalaya. Other items such as
hamburgers, french fries and corn dogs are available.
