Holiday Open House for Antique Lover – Summerville, S.C.

November 17, 2007 by Susanne Talentino

You do not have to go on an Antique Road Show to enjoy the Antiques of Summerville because the Greater Summerville Antiques Association is having a Holiday Open House. The ten members of the Association, along with their newest associate, The Kings Inn Bed and Breakfast will be opening their doors in celebration of the holidays to locals and visitors alike. The Open House, which takes place on Saturday, Dec. 8 will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 6 p.m.

Those who participate by visiting the antiques shops of Summerville will have an opportunity to win a free stay at the Kings Inn Bed and Breakfast. All you have to do is acquire an entry blank to be validated by each of the shops you visit. Once the entry blank has been validated by every store, it allows you to join the Greater Summerville Antiques Association members at the Kings Inn Bed and Breakfast for a free wine and cheese celebration.

A drawing will be held at the reception for a free night at the Kings Inn Bed and Breakfast, compliments of innkeepers, Kristen and Joe. You can download an entry blank and see the participating antique dealers by click on this link – or pick up a form at participating antique dealers.

Hand crafted gifts by more than 75 local artisans will include Christmas ornaments, glass work, lighthouses, whimsical holiday crafts, doll clothing, and original art by locally recognized potters, painters and photographers. Live entertainment with a holiday twist will flow through the market. Due to ongoing construction at Moultrie Middle School, the location of the Holiday Farmers Market and Craft Show has been relocated to the Mount Pleasant Municipal Complex.

Children activities will include face painting, a jump castle and a visit with Santa Claus. Santa will ride a 1941 Ford fire engine to the market where he will listen to Christmas wishes and hand out candy canes from the back of the fire truck.
