Charles Towne Landing Hosts Annual “Founders’ Day” Festival – Charleston, South Carolina

April 3, 2008 by Susanne Talentino

Several groups of re-enactors dressed in 17th-century costume will demonstrate an array of living history programs portraying the lifeways of the colonists including the firing of blackpowder cannons and muskets, as well as cooking and other daily chores crucial to the colony’s survival. They will take place inside the palisade wall that protected the colonists during Charles Towne’s earliest days. Since 2008 also marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of South Carolina State Parks, a ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. honoring the state park legacy. Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site is located on Old Towne Road (S.C. 171), near exit 216-A off Interstate 26. Admission to the park is $5 for adults, $3.25 for South Carolina seniors, $3 for children ages 6 to 15 and free for children 5 and younger. A park passport that grants admission to all South Carolina state parks can also be purchased. princessali3 molly family album Phone: 843-852-4200
