Celebrate 97 years of Girl Scouting in the United States. Tour the beautiful home and learn more about this famous American woman and the Scout movement she started in Savannah, Georgia. You’ll hear inspirational stories, funny anecdotes, about ideals of patriotism and character. And no Girl Scout Week celebration would be complete without cookies, so real Girl Scout cookies are served as well.

Super Sunday at the Museum

Right after Superbowl Sunday comes another Super Sunday. On February 8 it’s time for one of Savannah’s most popular events – Super Museum Sunday. On this special day you can take your whole gang to participating museums and historic sites in Savannah without paying admission. The event begins at noon to four pm absolutely free.

Super Museum Sunday is part of Georgia Historical Society’s “Georgia Days”, which is an event lasting for the whole month celebrationg Georgia history. For a list of participating museums and venues, click here.

Holiday Evening Tours by Candlelight at the Davenport House – Savannah, GA

Christmas 1860: Candlelight Tours of the Edmondston-Alston House.

Take a step back in time and celebrate the holiday season with a special candlelight tour of the Edmondston-Alston House, one of the first dwellings built on Charleston’s High Battery. The historic Edmondston-Alston House will be dressed for the holidays much as it would have been in the 1860s. Living historians in period clothing will tell the story of Charleston’s last opulent Christmas before the start of the Civil War and will share the different Christmas traditions of the day. In the courtyard, visitors can enjoy hearing Christmas carols and spirituals sung by The Washington’s, Low Country singers specializing in African-American spirituals and Gullah songs.
