The Opening of the Beaches in Jacksonville Beach, FL, marks the official start of the Summer season in Jacksonville. Nowadays the event consists of a Sandcastle Building competition on Saturday, followed by the Opening of the Beaches Parade on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 2 pm. The parade consists of floats and fun. The route starts on 2nd street north heads north to 6th avenue north, then turns east to 1st street, turns north on 1st street to 16th avenue north, turns west to 2nd street north, heads south to Beach Blvd and ends.Expect lots of people in Jax Beach for this weekend.
