MOJA Arts Festival 2008 – Charleston, South Carolina
2008 marks Charleston’s 25th annual MOJA Arts Festival: A Celebration of African-American and Caribbean Arts. Selected as one of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 events for many different years, the 2008 MOJA Arts Festival promises an exciting line-up of events with a rich variety of traditional favorites. The upcoming festival is scheduled for Thursday, September 25 through Sunday, October 5, 2008. Nearly half of MOJA’s events are admission-free and the remainder are offered at very modest ticket prices, ranging from $5 – $35.
St Marys Rock Shrimp Festival
The 2008 St. Marys Rock Shrimp Festival, presented by the Kiwanis Club of St. Marys, Georgia, takes place October 4 in Downtown St. Marys. The 36th annual event features 1.5K, 5K, and 10K runs, a parade, arts & crafts displays, kids games in the park, a variety of food, and is highlighted by a rock shrimp dinner that includes fried rock shrimp, boiled shrimp, fried fish and accompaniments. Dinners will be served from 11 am to 6 pm the day of the event.
St. Marys has often been recognized as the “Rock Shrimp Capital,†famous for the hard-shelled shrimp with the sweet lobster-like taste that is prevalent in the Coastal Georgia and Northeast Florida waters.

River City Fusion at October Art Walk – Jacksonville, FL
It’s the 40th Anniversary of Consolidation and River City Fusion, an ensemble of the St. Johns River City Band, will bring the music of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s to life in front of the Jacksonville Public Library during Art Walk. It will start at 5 pm and run until 9 pm at the Jacksonville Public Library Entrance.
The Band will also be selling tickets for their annual Taste the Music event. So come out and enjoy the fun!
