Jekyll Island, Ga (July 22, 2008)— Jekyll Island is bringing the Golden Isles the biggest, best beach concert in years. Why? Because it is free. The 2008 Beach Music Festival is hitting the coast hard with musical sounds from the Rickey Godfrey Band, Second Chance, and the Swingin Medallions.
Blue vs. the Gray End of Summer Celebration – Savannah, Georgia
This event takes place at Fort Pulaski National Monument in Savannah, Georgia. Activities include cannon firings, skirmish drills, Civil War soldier talks, and guided fort tours. The highlight of the day will be an 1862-style baseball game between members of the 48th New York and the 8th Georgia Regiments.

“STIX n’ STONZ Munny P.O.W Tour” is the promotional event introducing AFFA’s “Reel Grits – S.C. LGBT Film Festival. STIX n’ STONZ will challenge one of societies oldest school yard chants, “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.†While one cannot only be physically brutalized, the power given to a single word can emotionally abuse, dehumanize, socially stigmatize and divide a nation. STIX n’ STONZ, will focus on those words that have the ability to oppress, silence and invoke such strength of emotions that the phrase, “…words will never hurt,†does not ring true. Artists will be challenged to visually define words often used to do just that to the LGBT community and their allies. Some artists may choose to embrace a word and put an empowering spin on it.
