Corner Layne is on top of the world. Life seems to be going in the ideal direction until his marriage comes crumbling down at the alter. In the wake of a disastrous betrayal of his best friend and wife-to-be, Conner decides to take the honeymoon solo to Central America, the place of his mother’s birth (Maria Conchita Alonso). In Panama, he joins an expedition to travel through the Darien Gap: 125 miles of jungle in Central America. “The Art of Travel” is about the twists and turns in the jungle of life. Dance of my heart film – Jacksonville, FL

Ricardo Acosta’s “Dance of My Heart” is a sensitive, well documented portrait of the Cuban dancer/choreographer Alberto Alonso. The co-creator of the Cuban classical ballet style and the choreographer of Carmen Suite, Alonso, up until December 2007, lived his last years working every day at Santa Fe Community College in north Florida. He danced with some of the most important ballet dancers of the 21st century and taught his students how to dance with the same passion and professionalism he used his entire life. The film is not only an ode to the Nestor of classical Cuban dance, but also an ode to the power of art, the power of love and the power of beauty that will not succumb to the power of time. The sensuality that is the heartbeat of Cuban dance is beautifully reflected in Alonso’s timeless choreography and in the vibrant editing by Ricardo Acosta in his directorial debut. Dance of my heart is an inspiring documentary that makes you want to dance and swing on the powerful energy of love and life that cannot be destroyed by time and age.

Fall Festival at Night Heron Park on Kiawah Island – Charleston, SC

This juried art festival takes place at Francis Field behind the St. Augustine Downtown Historic Parking Facility located on West Castillo Drive in St. Augustine. The festival is sponsored by the St. Augustine Art Association and takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Brookgreen Gardens’ Nights of a Thousand Candles – Pawleys Island, SC

December 5-6; 12-13 & 18-20 from 3 – 10 p.m., Nights of a Thousand Candles will kindle your holiday spirit as Brookgreen celebrates the tenth year of the festival. Thousands of candles will illuminate garden paths and festive lights will brighten the winter sky, plus performances by the popular choral ensemble, Vocal Edition, and piano concerts performed by Rocky Fretz. Bill Oberst, Jr. will return as Scrooge in his one-man rendition of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. There will be an exciting series of additional performances each night.
