Charleston’s 61st Annual Spring Festival of Houses and Gardens will showcase six decades of the historic city’s accomplishments as a national leader in preservation. The month-long series of house and garden tours, as well as many special ancillary events, will run March 13 – April 12. Held during the peak of the historic port city’s blooming season, the festival offers guests the rare opportunity to explore the private residential interiors and gardens of approximately 150 of America’s most distinctive historic houses in 11 colonial and antebellum neighborhoods.

21st Annual Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival – Mt Pleasant, South Carolina

Pleasant will honor the 21st anniversary of a unique shrimping festival that attracts thousands of visitors each year. The 21st Annual Town of Mt. Pleasant Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival Presented by Lucey Mortgage Corporation will take place on Sunday, April 27 from 11:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. This highly-anticipated event celebrates the Mt. Pleasant shrimping industry and features local shrimp boat captains partaking in an annual pre-season tradition – the blessing of the shrimp fleet. As one of Mt. Charles Towne Landing Hosts Annual “Founders’ Day†Festival – Charleston, South Carolina
Several groups of re-enactors dressed in 17th-century costume will demonstrate an array of living history programs portraying the lifeways of the colonists including the firing of blackpowder cannons and muskets, as well as cooking and other daily chores crucial to the colony’s survival. They will take place inside the palisade wall that protected the colonists during Charles Towne’s earliest days. Since 2008 also marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of South Carolina State Parks, a ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. honoring the state park legacy. Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site is located on Old Towne Road (S.C. 171), near exit 216-A off Interstate 26. Admission to the park is $5 for adults, $3.25 for South Carolina seniors, $3 for children ages 6 to 15 and free for children 5 and younger.
