Culinary Tours of Charleston, renowned for its educational and entertaining culinary tours, introduces its newest tour – “Food Finds in Charlestonâ€- starting August 20, 2007. Tours run daily, Monday – Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until Noon.
Led by Amanda Dew Manning’s team of culinary experts, both visitors and locals can delight in savoring some of the city’s tastiest offerings carefully selected from its repertoire of outstanding artisinal food makers. Every tour includes six tasting stops from among chocolatiers, gelaterias, confectioners, and specialty shops. Expert culinary guides educate tour guests in the “pleasures of the palate†as they discover why Charleston is considered one of the hottest culinary destinations in the country.
Tours start at 10:00 a.m. at the Art Institute of Charleston located at 24 N. Market Street in downtown Charleston and accommodate up to 20 people per tour. Tours last for two hours. Culinary Tours of Charleston was founded in 2001 by 10th generation South Carolinian Amanda Dew Manning and Robert Manning as a division of Carolina FoodPros. A nationally known nutritionist, Amanda Dew Manning, M.S., M.P.A., has served two terms on the National Board of Directors of the American Institute of Wine and Food and is a member of the prestigious Les Dames d’Escoffier. She is active in the Southern Foodways Alliance, and is immediate past president of the SC Specialty Food Association. Robert Manning, M.B.A., business administrator and marketing specialist, is publisher of Edible Lowcountry and Edible Atlanta, magazines dedicated to celebrating the bounty of local foods, season by season.
