Learn about the Gullah Geechee history and heritage from Ron Daise at this event is presented by the Arts Council of Beaufort County . This is a great event for the whole family. Viewers will be invited to sing-along to the tune of a well-known Gullah coded message song and embark on a fun-filled educational journey.
“Gullah Geechee Rhythms is interactive and audience-participatory,” said Ron Daise, author of Gullah Branches, and Star of Gullah Gullah Island . “I use songs, stories, and photographs to present 10 memorable ways to identify Gullah and Geechee heritage. Many people are curious about the words `Gullah’ and `Geechee,’” continued Daise. “Even many local residents can’t readily identify the meaning of these words. Visitors travel to Beaufort and other Lowcountry communities hoping to research information or make inquiries.”
