A celebration of Bluffton’s unique history, cuisine and culture, the 3rd annual Historic Bluffton Arts & Seafood Festival takes place October 23-28.
Discover “Where Fine Art & the Bounty of The Sea Comes Together,†during a multi-day event showcasing locally harvested seafood, Low country cuisine, area artists and craftsmen, live music and entertainment, fishing tournament, boat tours, children’s activities, fireworks and more.
Kicking off the festivities, author Ron Daise, former star of Nickelodeon’s Gullah, Gullah Island, hosts a lunch at Myrtle’s on Tuesday, October 23 at noon. Tickets are $30.00 a person and can be reserved by calling Myrtle’s Restaurant.
Friday night, “Pop and Oyster With Champagne†and enjoy live music with Lavon Stevens during VIP Night at the Rotary Community Center in Oscar Frazier Park from 6-9 p.m. Tickets are $100 with proceeds benefiting Friends of the Rivers.
On Saturday, October 27, the fun begins with a 5K Run through Bluffton’s Historic District at 8:30 a.m. followed by a fishing tournament for children at the Bluffton Oyster Company on Wharf Street starting at 10 a.m.
From 10 a.m. to 5p.m., more than a dozen local restaurants and caterers, along with artists, environmentalists, musicians, and entertainers, will line the downtown streets offering a true taste of the Low country. Free shuttle service is available at the Bluffton Village parking lot from 10:00 am – 9:00 pm.
New this year to the festival is “The Art of Cuisine†Iron Chef Challenge taking place Saturday at the center of Calhoun Street from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm in Neptune’s Galley. Area chefs will be challenged to prepare a seafood dish using only four of their own ingredients along with the “unknown treasures from the seaâ€.
Saturday night, a Seafood Extravaganza with music is scheduled at the Bluffton Oyster Company from 5:30 -8:30 p.m. capped off with a fireworks finale at dusk.
Pack a picnic lunch for Sunday to enjoy the Blessing of the Fleet and Gospel Music at 2 p.m. on the lawn at the Church of the Cross.
