Blessing of the Vine 2007 – Wadmalaw Island, SC

October 23, 2007 by Susanne Talentino

Irvin-House Vineyards will host its third annual Blessing of the Vine Festival. Wine enthusiasts and their families will witness a ceremony of the blessing of the vine by the priest, while admiring the charming setting of Charleston’s only vineyards and winery.

Wine Tastings: Visitors will have an opportunity to sample the winery’s five labels: Live Oak Reserve, Magnolia, Mullet Hall Red, Palmetto and Tara Gold.
Stomping on the Grapes: Experience how wine was made centuries ago.
Traditional Local Food: Guests of the Vineyards will enjoy some delicious barbeque from the award-winning Black-Jack Barbeque Team.
Live Music: Charleston’s favorite beach band, The Coppertones, will perform favorite tunes. Bring your dancing shoes!
Arts and Crafts from local artists and craft-makers will be available for sale.

Irvin-House Vineyards is the only winery in the Charleston area and one of the only estate wineries in South Carolina.
The winery is located approximately 20 minutes from downtown Charleston. From Maybank Highway on Johns Island continue on Maybank to Wadmalaw Island. About 1 1/2 miles after bridge, watch for a curve, then bear right onto Bears Bluff Road. Travel 8 1/2 miles – the vineyard’s driveway is marked by two stucco columns on the right.
