The Charleston Comedy Festival – Charleston, South Carolina

Some of the country’s hottest improv, sketch and stand-up artists will embark on Charleston for what has become the annual event you don’t want to miss! Produced by Theatre 99 (Charleston’s Home for Improv Comedy) and The Charleston City Paper, over 30 shows will be performed in 6 different venues in just 4 nights. Venues for the festival this year include Theatre 99 (280 Meeting Street above the Bicycle Shoppe), The American Theater and Stars Bar (446 King Street), Charleston Ballet Theatre (477 King Street), Tonik (479 King Street) and The Music Farm (32 Ann Street). This festival is the South’s premier comedy event and the only event of its kind in the Carolinas.

Artists that will participate in the Charleston Comedy Festival 2008 included Harvard Sailing Team (sketch comedy from NYC), I Eat Pandas (improvised musical) and Hot Sauce (sketch and improv) from Uprights Citizens Brigade Theatre (NYC), stand-up comedy by Kenny Z and Friends (NYC), The Josh and Tamra Show (puppet improv comedy duo from NYC), Stand Up Showdown featuring 3 national comics, Murder, She Improvised (Dad’s Garage Theatre from Atlanta), The Apple Sisters Variety Show (NYC), The Magnet Theater (improv from NYC), Washington Improv Theatre (DC) and much, much more. Local artists performed in The Banana Monologues, Neckprov, Moral Fixation, Big Dicktionary, Doppelganger, Maximum Brain Squad Sketch Comedy. The Have Nots! Comedy Improv Company host and perform in the Festival Finale show that featured a “sample platter” of festival participants.

Ticket prices range from $3 to $17.50 and will be available beginning December 5 at www.charlestoncomedyfestival.com or by calling Etix at 1-800-514-ETIX.*
Tickets will be sold at Theatre 99 (280 Meeting Street) the week of the festival from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
*Tickets for the Stand Up Competition at The Music Farm on January 16 are only available at Music Farm box office or at the door the night of the show.

73rd Savannah Tour of Homes and Gardens – Georgia

Lace up your walking shoes and get ready to experience some of Savannah’s most beautiful gardens and homes on March 27 – 30, 2008 . This increasingly popular tour features a different Savannah neighborhood every day. Guests visit approximately six gardens which include both private homes and/or gardens during a three hour period.
