Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (January 11, 2008) Join the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach and the World Affairs Council in celebrating the launch of an exciting new organization called the Young Advocates for Cultural Awareness (YACA) on Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at 6:00 p.m.
The event will begin with a complimentary wine and cheese reception at 6:00 p.m. followed by a very special program featuring Ambassador Nancy Soderberg that will begin promptly at 6:45 p.m. Soderberg, author, public commentator, and Visiting Distinguished Scholar at the University of North Florida currently serves as Vice President of Progams for the World Affairs Council. She will speak about “International Cultural Awareness” and the important role it plays in helping individuals understand today’s delicate political climate.
The evening’s program is sponsored by The Chef’s Garden. Entertainment will be provided by Cultural Center artist member and noted music instructor, Erin Barnes.
This innovative organization is a result of a collaborative partnership formed between the Cultural Center and the World Affairs Council.   YACA invites you to expand your awareness of the global arts. Come enrich your culture via visual, performing, and culinary arts, while considering foreign affairs, international business, and cultural economics. This young professional’s group is targeted to expand international cultural awareness through education and overall appreciation of the arts. Together these professionals (ages 22-40) will engage their community, friends, families, and colleagues in expanding their international awareness of the arts through social and educational activities. The community will benefit from cultural diversity, business development, and common fellowship.
YACA plans to host 5 major events in 2008. The first 4 events will immerse individuals in select international culture. Visual, performing, and culinary arts will be displayed, along with a renowned speaker of the international region. The final event will be a black tie gala in which YACA will distribute 3 scholarships to distinguished high school seniors who are actively pursuing artistic professions. About the Cultural Center: The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach is a 501c3 not for profit organization whose mission is to bring the arts into the life of our communities through arts education, art appreciation and community outreach. The 8,000 square foot Center features an art gallery, dance studio, two multi-purpose arts and crafts room, office space and a music room for one-on-one instruction.
