SCAD School of Performing Arts presents “A Lie of the Mind” – Savannah, Georgia

January 30, 2008 by Susanne Talentino

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Savannah College of Art and Design School of Performing Arts presents “A Lie of the Mind,” a play by Sam Shepard, Feb. 14-17, Mondanaro Theater, 217 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

“A Lie of the Mind,” is a work by one of America’s leading dramatists, operating at the height of his powers. The play is a mesmerizing, raw and hilarious journey into the heart of its protagonist and his dysfunctional family.  In Shepard’s distinctive vision, reality gives way to raw emotional power communicated through a visual language that stuns and surprises.

“‘A Lie of the Mind’ is, at the core, an examination of the frayed bonds of love and the ungrounded character of the American family,” said director and performing arts professor Mark Tymchyshyn. “It is a surreal tale that is sad, funny and emotionally engaging.”

Performances are at 8 p.m, with a 3 p.m. matinee on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased online at www.scadboxoffice.com, by phone at 912.525.5050, or at the SCAD box office, 216 E. Broughton St.

Admission is $10 for the general public, $5 for students and seniors, and free for students, faculty and staff with a valid SCAD ID.

This play contains adult themes and content and is not recommended for children.

The SCAD School of Performing Arts offers accredited degree programs in dramatic writing, performing arts and production design.
