SAVANNAH, Ga. – Two Savannah College of Art and Design broadcast design and motion graphics alumni, Anh Vu (B.F.A, 2007) and William Campbell (B.F.A, 2007), won the Visual Effects Award for best and most innovative film in visual animation at the ninth annual Animex International Festival of Animation and Computer Games in Middlesbrough, England Feb. 4-8.
Animex Festival director Chris Williams said, “We are overwhelmed by the standard of this year’s competition entries; the quality of the work submitted improves every year. We’ve had more animated films from a wider range of countries than ever before, and the winning films were really superb. Congratulations to Anh Vu and William Campbell on winning in the visual effects category.â€
“The Lemon Tree,†which Vu and Campbell created while students at SCAD, also has won awards such as the gold award in the Student Animation and Design category at the 2007 Broadcast Designers Association student awards. In addition, the film placed first in the Best of Broadcast Design–Student Category at the 2007 American Institute of Graphic Arts SEED Awards in Atlanta, Ga. “The Lemon Tree†has placed in several international festivals in addition to its most recent win at Animex.
