Fears That Fortifed Charles Towne – Charleston, South Carolina

April 1, 2008 by Susanne Talentino

During the early years of the settlement, the Charles Towne colonists faced several threats, especially from their primary enemy and colonial rival, the Spanish. The Spanish fleet at St. Augustine, Florida was within three days travel of the fledgling English colony.

Meeting Place: Fortified area – near the crop garden, bring insect repellent and water. Demonstrations begin at 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00pm in the fortified area.
