The Finnish word Rajaton translates as “boundless,” and that’s precisely the way this vocal ensemble describes their approach to music. The six-piece a cappella group has performed around the world at concert halls, churches, and jazz festivals, singing everything from spiritual music to pop hits. Bona fide pop phenomenons in their native Finland, Rajaton’s songs have repeatedly topped the charts. Their album Joulu (“Christmas”) went double-platinum in 2003 and they hold two additional platinum and five gold records in Finland.
The immensely popular Swedish pop group, ABBA, gained legendary status and popularity during the decade between 1972 and 1982. Having sold more than 370 million records worldwide, ABBA songs are still fixtures on today’s radio stations. The quartet was known for catchy hooks, memorable lyrics and thick harmonies achieved by overdubbing the group’s voices on top of themselves.
