Hundreds of vintage and custom motorcycles, as well as vendors, dealers and entertainment will be featured around the Walk of Champions at World Golf Village Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the ninth-annual “Riding Into History.â€Riding Into History, one of America’s premier motorcycle events, will return to the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla. for the ninth year on Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is open to the public and admission is $10 per person. All proceeds will benefit Buddy Check 12â„¢, a partnership between Baptist Health and First Coast News to aid in the prevention and detection of breast cancer.
Riding Into History 2008 will feature escorted charity motorcycle rides beginning at 10 a.m. in both Jacksonville and St. Augustine ending at World Golf Village. Over 300 antique, vintage and classic motorcycles from all over the country will be displayed around the Village’s Walk of Champions and the show will feature Racy Competition Motorcycles. Spectators also can enjoy various exhibitors, entertainment, club participation and a variety of food, as well as collectors’ items including event posters and t-shirts designed by motorcycle artist Don Bradley.
The Grand Marshal for Riding Into History 2008 will be Mert Lawwill, former Grand National Champion, Motorcycle Hall of Fame member and star of the 1971 motorcycle racing documentary On Any Sunday. Lawwill will be on-hand to meet patrons at the Concours and also will be the featured speaker at Saturday’s Biker’s Ball. The Biker’s Ball will begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village.
The 2008 event is presented by the event committee comprised of volunteer members from organizations including the BMW Motorcycle Owners of Northeast Florida (BMWNEF) and the Historic Motorcycle Society (HMS).
