Come for Dinner and Stay for the Show During Brookgreen Gardens’ Cool Summer Evenings!
Bring your own blanket or chair and enjoy live entertainment during Cool Summer Evenings on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, June 18 through August 15 at Brookgreen Gardens. All live entertainment is included in the regular admission to the Gardens. Cruises down the creek are offered all three evenings at 5:30 and 6:30 pm. and are $7 in addition to garden admission.
Wednesdays’ schedule includes three short plays, all written by local playwrights and directed by Brookgreen’s Vice-President of Development, Pat Tukey. Wednesdays, June 18 through July 16, is a historic drama titled, The Legend of Alice Flagg. Written by Lori Lewis, a resident of Murrells Inlet, the 45-minute drama is based on factual, historic records of Alice’s tragic love story in the mid 1850s and the mysterious sightings of her ghost. Wednesdays, July 23 through August 13, are two short comedies, The Bridal Path and Fixing Up Mom, written by local playwright Kathryn Martin.
On Thursdays, kids enjoy a nature walk at 4 p.m. followed by an interactive evening animal program at 5 p.m. Then visitors may stroll through the gardens as music fills the air from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Oak Allee.
On Friday evenings, the popular concert series performances are at 7 p.m. on the garden lawn area in front of Pegasus. Some of the performers include jazz trumpeter, Javier Vega, and his jazz trio on June 27 and August 1; African drums and dancers with Leon Jackson and the EGBE Family Kilimanjaro on June 20 and August 8; the Arlin Strader jazz trio – piano, bass and drums on July 11 and 25. Hilliard Greene, from New York performs jazz favorites August 15 on the upright base and Brian Ashley Jones, an accomplished guitarist, singer and song writer from Nashville entertains audiences on July 4.

Brookgreen Gardens is located on U.S. 17 between Myrtle Beach and Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Children 5 and under are admitted free; adult tickets (13-64) are $12; seniors (65 and over) are $10; children ages 6-12 are $5. Admission to Brookgreen is good for seven days. All entertainment is included in the admission price. Creek excursions tickets are $7 in addition to garden admission.
