Downtown Vision is for the second year dishing out exquisite cuisine at an affordable price during the second year of Eat Up Downtown, Downtown Jacksonville’s restaurant week. Participating restaurants provide a specially selected (prix fixe) 3-course dinner menu for $25.* There are no coupons to clip or tickets to buy. Ancient Ships - Jacksonville, Florida

USS ConstitutionThere are very few documents or pictures of ancient ships with the exception of illustrations on coins minted at that time. The Ancient Ship exhibit (July 1 - Sept 29, 2008) features depictions of ancient ships on coins from the Greek, Roman and Phoenician eras, along with detailed models of early modern ships and manuscripts related to famous sea battles.
In addition the exhibit shows three special famous early modern ships, the “U.S.S. Constitution” (See photo ), the “H.M.S. Victory” and a Spanish Galleon of the type used in the Invincible Armada of 1588.

Children experience 1880’s through First Person Character

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. (July 28, 2008) - The Amelia Island Tourist Development Council (TDC) is hosting a free storytelling event for children (ages six and up) on Tuesday, August 12 at 2:30 p.m. in the Children’s area of the Mandarin Branch of the Jacksonville Public Library (3330 Kori Road). Designed to entertain and educate children about Northeast Florida in the 1880s, the event will feature Amelia Island resident and author, Dickie Anderson, portraying Emma Goddard, a Victorian lady visiting Amelia Island in 1882.

Shark Week at the South Carolina Aquarium - Charleston, SC
