North Florida’s Amateur Golfers Can Win Over $10,000 in Prizes
St. Augustine, Fla. (July 8, 2008) – For the fifth consecutive year, the World Golf Hall of Fame at World Golf Village will host its Putting Championship on the Hall of Fame’s 18-hole, natural-grass putting course. Presented by LastMinute Golfer, AT&T The Real Yellow Pages and Coca-Cola, the event is open to all amateur golfers in Northeast Florida. Qualification rounds for the Putting Championship will take place Saturday, July 19th and Sunday, July 20th and will continue Saturday, July 26th and Sunday, July 27th. The top 16 finalists will compete for the title of “World Golf Hall of Fame Putting Champion†Saturday, August 2nd.
Participants will have the opportunity to win more than $10,000 in prizes. Prizes include: Cleveland Golf clubs; passes to the 2009 THE PLAYERS Championship; stay-and-play vacation packages; a two-night stay at Laterra Resort & Spa, free golf for one year at World Golf Village’s golf courses, King & Bear and Slammer & Squire; golf rounds from LastMinute Golfer; PGA TOUR STOP gift certificates, lessons at the PGA TOUR Golf Academy and more.
The top 16 finalists will receive prizes including a Cutter and Buck golf shirt, a “Friends of the World Golf Hall of Fame†membership and more.
Entry fee for the putting tournament is $35 and includes a practice round on the putting course, admission to the World Golf Hall of Fame featuring the special exhibit Jack Nicklaus: Golf’s Golden Champion, lunch at Fairways Café the day of qualifying as well as golf offers and discounts from LastMinute Golfer and other area courses.
In addition, participants who purchase two tournament entries will receive a complimentary third round. Only the participant’s lowest scoring round will count toward the finals.
The World Golf Hall of Fame Putting Course is an 18-hole natural FloraDwarf Bermuda grass course designed to USGA and GCSAA specifications.
Qualifying Rounds on Saturday, July 19th, Sunday, July 20th, Saturday, July 26th and Sunday, July 27th will be made up of shotgun starts at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. The Championship Round will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 2nd.
