Film Producer’s Workshop in Charleston – South Carolina

July 17, 2008 by Susanne Talentino

Film Commission Sets Producer’s Workshop in August
COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Film Commission will hold a workshop for aspiring and established producers on Aug. 16-17 at Trident Technical College in North Charleston.

Topics include production scheduling, insurance, script revisions, how to determine shooting
days, call sheets, budgeting, rights and releases, and securing cast, crew and locations. Creating
a winning proposal for grants from the S.C. Film Production Fund also will be discussed.
Leading the training will be Scott Putman, a veteran producer currently developing “The Devil’s
Good Deed” to be directed by Giancarlo Esposito. Putman has co-produced “Wonderland” for
Lionsgate Films as well as the indie feature “Life of the Party.” He also was line producer for the
CBS hit “Survivor” for two years and most recently shot “Gospel Hill” in South Carolina for Fox, a
production that starred Danny Glover, Samuel Jackson, Angela Bassett and Julia Stiles.
The workshop will take place at the College Center at the Complex for Economic Development at
Trident Technical College off Rivers Avenue in North Charleston.
The workshop is being held in conjunction with the S.C. Film Production Fund – a fund created to
develop and help fund collaborative projects in film, video and multimedia between professionals
in motion picture-related industries and institutions of higher learning in South Carolina.
Production Fund applicants are strongly encouraged to attend. The charge is $50 for South
Carolina residents, $75 for non-residents and free to students studying film production at
institutions of higher learning in the Palmetto State.
