11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Daniel Island community will showcase its civic pride and philanthropic spirit on Saturday, October 11 at its annual Park Day Festival. Now in its eighth year, this “day of giving†has become a fall tradition not to miss! Live musical performances, arts and crafts, sailing, garden clinics, an oyster roast, educational wildlife exhibitions, dog activities and more are among the activities that will take place along the banks of the Wando River. Returning again this year is the Charity Challenge, a competitive event that gives area businesses an excellent opportunity to show off their philanthropic spirit and team building skills in an exciting and entertaining field game competition. Park Day is a day of outdoor family fun that visitors of all ages can enjoy!
Initially created in 2001 to bring Charleston residents and visitors together for a day of old-fashioned family fun, Park Day has since evolved into a community event that raises needed funding and awareness for a diverse collection of area service organizations and is now one of Charleston’s broadest scope charitable events. In 2007, approximately 9,000 Daniel Island and Lowcountry residents enjoyed a picture-perfect Park Day along the banks of the Wando River, helping raise more than $45,000 for area non-profit organizations.
While admission and parking are free, some events will require a nominal fee in order to raise money for participating non-profit organizations. Park Day is made possible by the generous support of over 40 sponsors. This year’s “Marquee Sponsors†include Daniel Island Real Estate, Home Telecom, Blackbaud, SunTrust, Daniel Island News and 95SX.
