Red, White and Blue on the Green – Summerville, South Carolina
Summerville D.R.E.A.M.’s (Downtown Restoration Enhancement and Management Corp.) annual 4th of July celebration Red, White & Blue on the Green will be held Wednesday, July 4 from 4 – 7 p.m. on Summerville’s Town Square. This old fashioned 4th of July celebration focuses on families.
Events and activities include a magic show, live music by Wendell Nolan, games for children of all ages, Jump Castles by Lowcountry Entertainment, face painting and prizes. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies and cool treats are available for purchase and all proceeds benefit Summerville D.R.E.A.M. VanDoren the magician will perform a professional magic show beginning at 5 p.m. in front of the bandstand on Town Square. For more information on VanDoren the Magician visit www.vandorenmagic.com. A non-motorized parade starts at 6:30 p.m. and registration begins at 4 p.m.
Decorate your baby carriage, little red wagon, roller blades, bike, trike or dog and march in the parade. Prizes will be awarded for Most Patriotic, Most Original and Most Patriotic Pet. Summerville D.R.E.A.M. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the health and vitality of Historic Downtown Summerville, by increasing the beauty, economic stability, and awareness of downtown Summerville we help to enhance the community’s sense of identity and pride. Providing “hometown” events to promote community spirit, assisting businesses with design improvements, building tourism, and marketing Summerville to visitors and residents are all part of D.R.E.A.M.’s activities.
Directions: 1-26 West to Hwy. 17 South. Take Hwy. 17 South for about 4.5 miles until you reach the center of Summerville, SC at Hutchinson Square.
After “Red, White and Blue on the Green†head to Gahagan Sports Complex located at 515 West Boundary Street for fireworks. Concessions and music will begin at 7 p.m. Fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m. Bring a beach blanket and lawn chair but no coolers or alcoholic beverages permitted. Fireworks show sponsored by The Town of Summerville. (Cars parked on the Berlin G. Myers Parkway will be towed.)
