Barrier Islands – Jacksonville, Florida

Join one of our knowledgeable park rangers for an informative talk on the natural history of sea islands and their important role in coastal ecology on Saturday, August 16th at 11:00 a.m.. The topics addressed will include beach erosion, island migration, island formation and the natural communities present on such barrier islands today. The program will take place at the Bluffs pavilion on Big Talbot Island. No reservations are necessary and the program is free with $2 vehicle entrance fee.

Cosmic Concerts at the MOSH – Jacksonville, Florida

The Museum of Science & History presents Cosmic Concerts – a laser light and music experience under the dome of the Alexander Brest Planetarium! Cosmic Concerts combine a full-color laser projection system and hundreds of special effects on the planetarium’s 60-foot dome with an 18,000 watt sound system to immerse visitors in a total visual and auditory music experience. The soundtrack for the programs are recorded and played back digitally, allowing for the cleanest, crispest sound possible.

Salt Cooking School – Amelia Island, Florida

If you’re interested in cooking, or want to become a participant on “Hell’s Kitchen” with Chef Ramsey, the Salt Cooking School on Amelia Island might be a good first step.
The first day features a “behind the scenes” tour of the resort’s kitchens, including the pastry shop, butcher shop and garde manger kitchen which gives the participants a glimpse into the inner workings of a 444-room resort and an understanding of the various responsibilities of the 45 member culinary team. Students then work with Chef Richard Gras and his team to prepare all the elements of a four-course luncheon, which is served family style and paired with a selection of fine wines.
