North Charleston Arts Festival 2009

The 2009 North Charleston Arts Festival is scheduled for May 1-May 9. The nine day art celebration draws more than 30,000 visitors every year. Individual Events begin on Friday, May 1, and continue through Saturday, May 9. The North Charleston Arts Festival is an action-packed event filled with theater and dance performances, concerts, programs for children, literary events, and multi-cultural block parties just tom mention a few.

North Charleston Arts FestivalThe Performing Arts Center and the Charleston Area Convention Center host the Main Event Weekend, Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3. Events include the eighth annual SC Palmetto Hands Juried Fine Craft Exhibition, the Lowcountry Gem & Mineral Show, music, theater, and dance performances, exhibitions of fine art, photography, and youth art, free children’s art activities and performances, Arts & Craft vendors and a Festival Food Court.

The Grand Finale will take place right at Riverfront Park with a exceptional variety of concerts and activities. Festival week culminates with a fantastic fireworks display.

Cinco de Mayo Festival 2009 – Charleston, SC

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a festival filled with entertainment. Sample Mexican cuisine and enjoy margaritas or try Mexican beer while watching the local version of Dancing with Local Stars competition. Find out who is going to win the prestigous title “Charleston’s Best Salsa Couple”.

There will also be a live performance by a 15 piece salsa group, guest appearances by the offical Riverdog mascots, and more.

Tickets are $10 for adults.

The Cinco de Mayo festival takes place at the Visitor’s Center Bus Terminal at 375 Meeting Street on Friday May 1 from 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm.

Florida’s Birding and Foto Fest on the First Coast

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.  Florida’s Birding & FotoFest will take place along the Northeast coast of Florida April 22-26, 2009. Now it in its seventh year, this year’s events will be headquartered at the Center for Marine Studies at the University of Florida’s Whitney Lab at Marineland – approximately 15 miles south of St. Augustine on historic and scenic A1A. Over the years, the event has grown tremendously in popularity – this year, participants are coming from 31 states and two countries.

The popular festival provides visitors and residents outstanding opportunities to experience the unspoiled natural beauty that is unique to Northeast Florida. Events take place from Ft. George Island in Jacksonville southward to Volusia County’s North Peninsula State Park.

Tickets remain available for the Saturday, April 25 keynote presentation by John Moran titled A Photographer’s Search for the Soul of Florida. There are also slots available for participating in the day-long Bird Migration Workshop scheduled for 8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22. In addition to the workshops and tours, numerous exhibitors will be on hand at Whitney Lab throughout the festival. These include the Audubon Birds of Prey Center (featuring live birds); St. Johns and Duval Audubon Societies; Bushnell, Canon USA, Eagle, Leica, Sigma, Swarovski, and Zeiss optics; Wildstock Photography; Hunt’s Photo and Video; NatureScapes.net;; Essential Photo Gear; Nature Nook Books and many others. Festival exhibit hours are Thursday, 2-5 p.m.; Friday, 12:30-4 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Hilton Head Island Sea Food Festival 2009

Come to Hilton Head Island for the annual seafood festival on Saturday April 25th. This event offers lots of fun for the whole family. If you love seafood – you can’t miss this one!
