Scarecrows on the Square in Summerville

Bring the family to downtown Summerville for the annual Scarecrows on the Square contest. Businesses, civic groups, schools, and individuals will have their most creative scarecrows on display from October 18-November 2 in Town Square.

Take a stroll through the rows of scarecrows and vote for your favorites! Votes are just 25 cents each, and all proceeds go to benefit Summerville D.R.E.A.M. (Downtown Restoration, Enhancement, and Management).

Community Festival at Honey Horn – Hilton Head Island, SC

Coastal Discovery Museum to hold 9th Annual Community Festival
The 9th Annual Community Festival will be held at Honey Horn on Friday, October 24th and Saturday, October 25th, from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m.

This family oriented festival will feature a haunted trail in the haunted forest presented by the Hilton Head Rotary Club and the Interact Clubs from Hilton Head High School. There always is something new that the students add to this ever expanding event! There will be inflatable rides for all ages and games, including a soccer arena with a giant ball, an obstacle course and many more. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be cooked by the Hilton Head Fire Fighters Association; with beer, wine and soft drinks available. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Department will be on hand with the Ident-A-Kid program both evenings and on Saturday night they will have the canine unit and traffic units on hand. The Society of Lowcountry Magicians will be on hand Saturday only for performances at 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. in the Mary Ann Peeples pavilion as part of the festival.

Admission to the festival is $10.00 per vehicle and you will receive $5.00 worth of tickets for food and activities. Admission for Museum members is free, with individual tickets available for purchase of food, beverages and activities.

Ghost Tours in Beaufort, South Carolina

Costumed storytellers spellbind tour participants with tales of ghostly happenings in some of Beaufort’s oldest residences located in the historic district and beyond. The oldest ghost in America is said to live in the Castle, a 19th century renovated estate currently on the market. Ghostly visions have been known to appear on past tours which take about 45 minutes to one hour.
Tickets are $10 for the walk and for children (3-11) on the carriages and $18 for adult carriage rides.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Some of Beaufort’s oldest residents have shared stories from their childhood. This event, now in its fourteenth year, attracts hundreds of participants from around the county.

Garden Festival at Middleton Place – Charleston, SC

The Garden Festival at Middleton Place is an action-packed garden festival popular with the garden enthusiast. Magnificent gardens, visionary speakers, festival market, food & wine market, music concert, community wide flower – sculpture – photography & event planning competitions, a children’s fantasy area and thousands of guests are what make the Charleston Garden Festival one of the most anticipated and must-see events of the year.

A Variety of Events for the Garden Enthusiast
Visionary speakers will appear for panel discussions, presentations and main stage speaking events. Landscape designers will create unique and innovative themed exhibit gardens. The finest food vendors who are members of Slow Food USA, Lowcountry Local First and the Certified South Carolina Fresh will be catering to guests all day. Organic beer and wine will also be available to make your experience at Middleton Place truly memorable.
