Callahan Holiday Celebrations – Florida

The Annual Christmas Arts and Crafts Show, sponsored by the Greater Nassau County Chamber of Commerce, takes place from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 1 in the parking lot of Southeastern Bank on US 1 in Callahan. “The 12 Days of Christmas” parade will start promptly at 11 a.m.
Following the craft show, the West Nassau Historical Society invites everyone to a “Christmas Open House at the Callahan Depot” from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Enjoy refreshments and listen to live entertainment by Callahan’s own Liz Mobley, Ray Williams and Robin Kinsey.

Stay after and enjoy the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting (scheduled for dusk) on the front lawn with Mayor Shirley Graham and the town of Callahan. For more information about the West Nassau Historical Society visit www.wnhsfl.org or call (904) 879-3406.

Murrells Inlet Christmas Parade – Murrells Inlet, SC

Get in the holiday spirit with the annual community parade, “Christmas Boats and Floats for the Kids”! Come and enjoy the fun as the Murrells Inlet Christmas parade starts at Willcox Avenue and marches down Business 17. Immediately following the parade, meet at Morse Landing Park with Santa and the gang. Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit with the children at the park. The Christmas tree will be lit and the Eagle Scouts will man a bonfire to take the nip out of the air. The Seaside Elementary School, Heaven’s Gate, Brown Chapel, Living Waters and Jim Whitlow choirs will entertain the crowd at the park. This event is a must-do for all the kids and the grown-ups who still have a lot of kid left in them.

Christmas Parade starts at 4pm, Tree Lighting immediately following the parade

3rd Annual Lighted Holiday Parade – Savannah, GA

Enjoy the holidays with the 3rd Annual Lighted Holiday Parade. The Historic District will come alive at 5:30 p.m. as the parade travels east on River Street to Bay Street, west on Bay Street to Abercorn, North on Abercorn to Broughton ending at Ellis Square. Join Jamie and Bobby Deen, the Grand Marshals, in a fun, family holiday event. Following the lighted parade, Santa will visit the Ellis Square stage to collect Christmas letters from all of the good boys and girls.

Fourteen of the Western Hemisphere’s Most Dangerous Snakes Hatched at Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens

Jacksonville Zoo & GardensJacksonville, Florida, November 26, 2007 – Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has become Bushmaster pit viper central among zoos nationwide.  The fourteen babies are the first offspring of the Zoo’s 5-year-old, 7-foot 6-inch female Bushmaster and its male mate. This is the first time the two have produced offspring. The eggs were hatched after a 75-day incubation period on September 1, 2007.  Each of the neonate Bushmasters (Lachesis muta muta) were an average of 2 ½ ounces in weight and 22 ½ inches long.
