World of Nations Celebration – Jacksonville, Fl

During the 18th annual World of Nations Celebration, held April 29 – May 2, 2010, Metropolitan Park transforms into a multi-ethnic marketplace of cuisine, crafts and entertainment of people from throughout the world. With more than 30 countries represented, the festival provides a unique look into cultures from across the globe.

The City of Jacksonville and the event organizers will bring the world to you showcasing sights, sounds, and tastes of different nations within your reach. Embark on an exciting journey, traveling throughout the park where travelers may see nations and regions such as Cambodia, China, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Ghana, Haiti, India, Italy, Jamaica, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, St. Thomas, Senegal, South Africa, South Korea, Spain,Taiwan, Turkey, U.S.A., Venezuela and Vietnam.

Naturalization Ceremony
You can witness the commemorative ceremony when people are sworn in as United States citizens.

Parade of Flags
The inspirational Parade of Flag takes place on Saturday, May 1, 2010. Kids of different nationalities dressed in traditional clothing from different countries carry their native flags in the parade.

World of Entertainment
Come to the festival and experience talents from many different countries, see folk dance, listen to music and more.

Passport to the World
To get you and your kids feel like real world travelers, make sure to pick up your official passport to the world. Each country will stamp your passport during your exploration and at the end of the day, you can turn in your passports at the booth near the main entrance for a chance to win prizes.

Myrtle Beach Family Fitness Festival 2010

Myrtle Beach fitness festival and fun runThis is the first year for Myrtle Beach Family Fitness Festival & Fun Run. The event is scheduled for April 30-May 2, 2010 in Myrtle Beach, SC. The focus point for the festival is The Market Common and the area will feature fitness activities, vendors, live entertainment featuring national recording artists playing children’s music and much more.

Some of the events include a Diaper Derby, Chalk Art Walk Competition, 5K and 1 Mile Fun Runs. All the events benefit the Childrens’ Museum of South Carolina.

The Rivertown Music & Arts Festival 2010 – Conway, SC

The 24th Annual Rivertown Music & Arts Festival will be held May 1, 2010 from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. in historic downtown Conway, South Carolina. Rivertown Music and Arts festival, Conway, SCThis festival contains a lot of fun for the whole family with great live music, lots of art and a variety of food. Live performances will ranging from jazz to gospel to steel drums.  Performances take place all day from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Festival-goers are encouraged to their own chairs. There’s also a Classic Car Show.  Local artists and merchants will line the streets in downtown Conway. Browse a wide variety of arts and crafts items including pottery, wood, glass, photography, jewelry and paintings. No festival is complete without food and at the Rivertown Music and Arts Festival there is a lot to choice from in the food court.

The Savannah Scottish Games 2010

Highlanders and Scotsmen will again come together to celebrate their culture and heritage during this event in Savannah on Saturday May 8th, 2010.

At the Savannah Scottish Games you get a chance to experience a little bit of Scotland right here on the Georgia coast.
So what can you expect to see at the event? How about traditional games such as Heavy Athletics with stone throwing, weight tossing, hammer throwing, caber turning, and sheaf tossing. The festivities also include whisky tasting, pipe band competition, highland dancing championship to just mention a few.

Now you can get a little bit of Hollywood feel in Myrtle Beach.
On Saturday May 1, 2010, there is a free, family-friendly event for those of us who love the silver screen and the glamor that comes with it. So who’s scheduled to be there?

Catherine BellCatherine Bell, who plays Denise Sherwood of Lifetime Movie Network’s “Army Wives” – and she used to be in “Jags” a long time ago.

Alex Meraz. He plays Paul of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” and “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”

The little ones have not been forgotten either, Barbie will make an appearance as well as Spiderman. Take a look at the complete schedule below.

Trust me, the stars will be there – but we might be lacking a little bit in the red carpet treatment, so this is what you need to do.

Bring your own chairs for the movies and live entertainment since the event takes place on parking lot asphalt. Hats and sunscreen might come in handy to, but coolers are not allowed.

Here is the schedule:

10 a.m.: Official kickoff – Food and arts/crafts vendors open

10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.: Outdoor children’s movie on digital LED screen

Around 9:45 p.m.: Fireworks will follow after Guy’s performance

The event takes place from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. at the former Myrtle Square Mall site, between 23rd Avenue North and 27th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach.
