SAVANNAH, Ga.—The Savannah Film Festival, hosted by the Savannah College of Art and Design, is accepting professional and student film submissions for the 2008 festival, Oct. 25-Nov. 1.
Killer Sheep at St Marcos Theater – Jacksonville, Florida
KILLER OF SHEEP, Sunday, January 20th – 1PM screeening at San Marco Theater in Jacksonville. Killer of Sheep examines the black Los Angeles ghetto of Watts in the mid-1970s through the eyes of Stan, a sensitive dreamer who is growing detached and numb from the psychic toll of working at a slaughterhouse.
Killer of Sheep was shot on location in Watts in a series of weekends on a budget of less than $10,000, most of which was grant money. Finished in 1977 and shown sporadically, its reputation grew and grew until it won a prize at the 1981 Berlin International Film Festival.

Black Maria Film and Video Festival – Svannah, Georgia
SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Savannah College of Art and Design will host the 27th Black Maria Film and Video Festival Feb. 16, 8 p.m., at Lucas Theatre, 32 Abercorn St. The festival is free with a valid SCAD ID and $5 for the general public.
The Black Maria Film and Video Festival is an international traveling showcase of independent short films and videos, stopping nationwide at more than 55 host institutions. The festival strives to identify, showcase and reward compelling new independent media, reach audiences in a wide variety of venues and advocate exceptional achievements by diverse artists who expand the expressive terrain of film and video.

Night of the Living Dead Creator Speaks Out – Jacksonville, Florida
The famous movie “Night of the Living Dead†is turning 40 years. Friends of the Fest in Jacksonville is celebrating the big birthday with a special “Talkies†event on February 1st, 2008.
The horror movie will be screened in 35mm on February 1st, then on February 2nd at 9:30 the movie will be screen again while George Romero himself provides live commentary throughout the film, sort of a real-life DVD commentary track.
So, if you are a horror fan, mark your calendar for the the event of the year. But Friends of the Fest didn’t stop with the screenings. They went all out and arranged an exclusive dinner for 25 hardcore fans with the legendary filmmaker George Romero.
