Celebrate the 100th birthday of this legendary American bandleader, known as the “King of Swing,†“The Professor†and “Patriarch of the Clarinet†– the one and only Benny Goodman! To keep it in G, swing to Gershwin’s ever-popular Rhapsody in Blue with Jacksonville’s very own Scott Watkins. Event takes place at the Times-Union Center: Jacoby Symphony Hall from 8 pm to 10 pm.
The nine-day Savannah Jazz Festival is one of the largest and most popular of the free Savannah festivals. It returns to Savannah for the 27th time and takes place Sept 20th -28th.
The Savannah Jazz Festival, celebrates jazz offers all types of jazz, from Dixieland, traditional swing, straight-ahead and bop to melodic standards, and funky down-home “gutbucket” blues.
