Night of the Living Dead Creator Speaks Out – Jacksonville, Florida

The famous movie “Night of the Living Dead” is turning 40 years. Friends of the Fest in Jacksonville is celebrating the big birthday with a special “Talkies” event on February 1st, 2008.

The horror movie will be screened in 35mm on February 1st, then on February 2nd at 9:30 the movie will be screen again while George Romero himself provides live commentary throughout the film, sort of a real-life DVD commentary track.
So, if you are a horror fan, mark your calendar for the the event of the year. But Friends of the Fest didn’t stop with the screenings. They went all out and arranged an exclusive dinner for 25 hardcore fans with the legendary filmmaker George Romero. This sounds like a great Christmas gift for the horror movie fan – buy your tickets today because these tickets will disappear fast!

David Lugo & Latin Jazz Motion – Savannah,

Born 1962 in NYC, East Harlem “El Barrio”. Bhad Bhabie bickett nude David Lugo became one of the most talented, & well-respected percussionist in the Latin Jazz, Salsa, R&B genre. His first performance in the big leagues came at the age of 15 playing congas with the legendary percussionist, Jose Mangual Jr. The concert will be held on Sunday, January 27th at 5 pm at Four Points by Sheraton Historic Savannah – 520 West Bryan Street. (Bryan & MLK). The concert is free for Coastal Jazz Association members and $10 for non-members. Attendees who join CJA while at the concert will also be admitted for free.

David Lugo served as a facilitator/teacher for veteran musician Johnny Colon & The East Harlem Music School in East Harlem “El Barrio” New York City for more then 10 years while performing and touring the world with the best & world renowned artists in the business like Hector Lavoe, Ray Barretto, Tito Puente, Dizzy Gillespie, Stanley Turrentine, Celia Cruz, Willie Colon, Ruben Blades, Jon Faddis, Jorge Dalto, Joe Cuba, Oscar D’Leon, Ismael Miranda, Eddie & Charlie Palmieri, Jaco Pastorius, Dave Valentin, Lalo Rodriguez, Jimmy Sabater, Johnny Pacheco, Carlos “Patato” Valdez, Jose Mangual, Jr., Bobby Rodriguez Y La Compañia, Jimmy Bosch and many more.

Currently, David Lugo has his own group called David Lugo & Latin Jazz Motion in which he incorporates all of the Jazz flavors unto Latin Jazz rhythms. Charleston Symphony Orchestra Free Concerts for Kids – Charleston, South Carolina

The Charleston Symphony Orchestra Presents Two Children’s Concerts: The Jammin’town Musicians And How To Build An Orchestra
The Charleston Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Resident Conductor Scott Terrell, will present two concerts for children and families in the month of January. Two performances of the CSO’s popular Kinderkonzert, The Jammin’ Town Musicians, will take place on January 12 at 10:00 and 11:30 AM at Creative Spark Center for the Arts in Mt. Pleasant. How to Build an Orchestra, a Family Concert for children of all ages and their families, will take place on January 26 at 10:00 AM at the Sottile Theater.

Designed for young children, Kinderkonzerts are fun, casual concerts that expose kids to music in an entertaining way. Ten musicians from the Charleston Symphony and Scott Terrell will start off the morning with a quick ride through the Kabalevsky’s Commedian’s Galop. Children are encouraged to dance and enjoy themselves during Scott Joplin’s ever-popular Maple Leaf Rag. The feature presentation will be Edie Hill’s Jammin’ Town Musicians; a humorous musical journey adapted from the Brothers Grimm fairytale, The Bremen Town Musicians. Narrator Anthony Pierce will lead the audience in the story of a colorful group of animals that decide to leave their hometown to become musicians. Choose to attend this performance at either 10:00 AM or 11:30 AM on January 12, 2008. All Kinderkonzerts are free of charge.

This season’s second concert in the Charleston Symphony’s brand new Family Concert series is How to Build and Orchestra. Conductor Scott Terrell will arrive at the concert hall and find no orchestra to lead! One violin player will stumble onto stage and, together, they will try to figure out how they can gather the musicians they need. The audience will participate as each necessary player is located. Strings, then woodwinds, brass, and percussion will each demonstrate what they bring to the orchestra. Finally, Scott and the audience will put it all together with the exciting closing work – The Thrill of the Orchestra.
