Amelia Island Art Festival – Fernandina, Florida

On Veteran’s Day weekend, November 10th and 11th, 2007 downtown Fernandina Beach will be transformed into an outdoor art gallery. All day Saturday and Sunday, over 150 artists from across the nation will gather for the 1st Annual Amelia Island Art Festival. The fine art on display will include a broad spectrum of media: copper scultpures, handcrafted fine jewelry, functional and decorative pottery, original paintings, photography and more. Youth Orchestra Of The Lowcountry Concerto Competition – Charleston, S.C.

The Youth Orchestra of the Lowcountry’s concerto competition will take place on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at the Circular Congregational Church (150 Meeting Street). The competition is open to current members of the Youth Orchestra of the Lowcountry (formerly known as the Charleston Symphony Youth Orchestra), and winners will perform with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra in February.

Adjudicators for the competition are Ellen Dressler Moryl, Director, Office of Cultural Affairs, Yuriy Bekker, Concertmaster, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and David Maves, Professor Emeritus, College of Charleston. Blessing of the Vine 2007 – Wadmalaw Island, SC

Irvin-House Vineyards will host its third annual Blessing of the Vine Festival. Wine enthusiasts and their families will witness a ceremony of the blessing of the vine by the priest, while admiring the charming setting of Charleston’s only vineyards and winery.

Wine Tastings: Visitors will have an opportunity to sample the winery’s five labels: Live Oak Reserve, Magnolia, Mullet Hall Red, Palmetto and Tara Gold.
Stomping on the Grapes: Experience how wine was made centuries ago.
Traditional Local Food: Guests of the Vineyards will enjoy some delicious barbeque from the award-winning Black-Jack Barbeque Team.
Live Music: Charleston’s favorite beach band, The Coppertones, will perform favorite tunes. Bring your dancing shoes!
Arts and Crafts from local artists and craft-makers will be available for sale.

Irvin-House Vineyards is the only winery in the Charleston area and one of the only estate wineries in South Carolina.
The winery is located approximately 20 minutes from downtown Charleston. From Maybank Highway on Johns Island continue on Maybank to Wadmalaw Island. About 1 1/2 miles after bridge, watch for a curve, then bear right onto Bears Bluff Road. Travel 8 1/2 miles – the vineyard’s driveway is marked by two stucco columns on the right.
