Savannah Jazz festival – Savannah, Georgia

August 22, 2007 by Susanne Talentino

The week-long Savannah Jazz Festival, September 23-30, is one of the largest and most popular of the Savannah festivals presented by the Coastal Jazz Association.

The 26th Savannah Jazz Festival features the best in international, national, regional and local jazz talent. Enjoy all types of jazz, from Dixieland, traditional swing, straight-ahead and bop to melodic standards, and funky down-home “gutbucket” blues.
This year Jazz Festival expands outside downtown Savannah. As usual, the festival will still be taking place Thursday through Sunday at Forsyth Park ; but an extra evening has been added on Wednesday, September 26th. The festival will move south to the Armstrong Atlantic State University Fine Arts Auditorium for that night’s festivities. Sponsored in part by the City of Savannah’s Department of Cultural Affairs, the festival is free and open to the public.

Screening Update – The Altman Series – Jacksonville, Florida

August 17, 2007 by Susanne Talentino

I just received this email from Tim regarding the upcoming screening of the Altman film “3 women”.

“I am sorry to say that Criterion Pictures sent us a 35mm print that is not presentable at least by my standards. IFilm Fest don’t think Altman intended for his film to be in pink & white and scratched up.
Anyways…our friends over at MGM have come through with a nice print of another early Altman film:
THIEVES LIKE US starring Keith Carradine and Shelley Duvall.

I apologize that you won’t be seeing 3 WOMEN but THIEVES LIKE US is another  ignored Altman gem.
Hope you will all make it out for this extra special screening… SUNDAY at 1PM at San Marco Theatre
Cheers!
Tim “
