Charleston Garden Festival – South Carolina

October 13, 2007 by Susanne Talentino

Nowadays we hear a lot about how it is important to protect the environment, make a small footprint and use natural green solutions. And the eco-friendly trend is affecting gardening as well. But is gardening changing, or are we just starting to look back at how we used to do it? The theme for the 2007 festival “Charleston Green … What’s Old is New Again” takes a look at the newest trends, as well as old standards, in environmentally sound gardening techniques, designs, tools and more. The festival hopes to inspire others to create extraordinary, as well as environmentally friendly, gardens.

The 2007 Charleston Garden Festival is a cooperative effort between Charleston Horticultural Society and the Middleton Place Foundation. The Garden festival takes place at Middleton Place Plantation October 19-21.

This festival is being recognized as one of the South’s best garden festivals. Favorite events include the exhibit gardens. Here landscape designers create their interpretation of “Charleston Green” and show off their skills. In addition, the festival offers horticultural tours, children’s activities, alfresco parties, and a vendor’s market and much more.
