The beautiful city of Charleston is rich in history, and there are plenty of spooky stories about haunted houses and ghosts. Charleston always offers a wide variety of entertaining ghost tours, haunted houses to visit, costume festivities, fall festivals and other special events guaranteed to entertain and chill every bone!

Lost in Maze
Experience good old-fashioned fun at the West Family’s 6-acre corn maze. The maze features over 3 miles of trails. Guests will be provided a map upon entry, but will have to use their best map-reading skills to get out of the maze after finding all 12 checkpoints. Other activities include a farm animal petting zoo, hayrides, pumpkin patch, scarecrow alley, apple slingshot and more! Read our previous post about the Corn Maze in Charleston here.

Take a Ghost Walk

The Junior Service League and Summerville D.R.E.A.M. will host this annual event to include ghost stories, hayrides that wind through darkened streets, glow-in-the-dark face painting, and children’s stations with activities such as a cupcake walk, apple jumping, fortune tellers, pumpkin decorating and more.

The Spooky Swamp Thing
So popular is this event at Cypress Gardens that it’s been scheduled for two nights! Activities include a haunted boat ride, haunted walking trail, marshmallow roast, kid’s fun house, campfire and storytelling. Haunted events not recommended for young children.

Look Who’s Talking
Visit Boone Hall Plantation for a Fall Festival including an animated talking pumpkin, amusements for the kids, hay rides, kettle corn, animals, and plenty of delicious food. The Pumpkin Patch opens each year at the beginning of October and runs through the end of the month. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday 9am until 5pm and Sunday 1pm until 5pm throughout the month of October. Admission includes the playground area and the hayride. Haunted Harbor in Halloween
Charleston forts, houses and ships are the centerpiece of many of Charleston’s most famous ghost stories. Come aboard and explore the sites that are impossible to reach by foot. Feel the cool breezes of the harbor and learn of lost fortunes and tragic death while riding Charleston’s dark waves.
