Barbeque and Bluegrass at Boonehall – Charleston, South Carolina
If you love good food and enjoy live music, how about a festival with Barbecue and Bluegrass? Professional barbecue teams will travel to Boone Hall Plantation for the Southern National Barbeque Championship & Bluegrass Festival to compete in a cook-off sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society and the chance to win cash and prizes. Locals and amateurs are invited to show-off their talents in a barbecue cook-off, as well as a tailgating competition for the best sports team support. Free samples of the different types of barbecue cooked for the competition will be available in limited quantities. Full plates will be available for purchase by a variety of vendors.

Poster Competition for Charleston Food and Wine Festival
The BB&T Charleston Food + Wine Festival, scheduled for March 5-8, 2009 is proud to once again partner with Charleston magazine to present the third annual Official Poster Competition. Artists who are 18 years or older and residents of the Tri-county area (Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester) may submit original works of art for consideration in the design contest of the 2009 Festival Poster. Artists’ designs should illustrate Charleston’s unique culinary culture and flourishing food scene, while exhibiting characteristics that would appropriately represent the Festival. Keeping with the theme of the past two years, artists are required to incorporate into the design the signature wine stain (available with the application).
