Farmer’s Market – North Charleston
Every week the Farmers Market features fresh, locally grown produce, as well as herbs, jellies, jams and other delicacies. If you’re looking for fresh vegetables and fruit, this is the place for you! The market features a variety of special events including cooking demonstrations, nutrition classes and free health screenings. The Farmers Market even has a playground for the kids and offers face painting, pony rides, jump castle and much more. Salt Cooking School – Amelia Island, Fl
The first day features a “behind the scenes” tour of the resort’s kitchens, including the pastry shop, butcher shop and garde manger kitchen, which gives the participants a glimpse into the inner workings of a 444-room resort and an understanding of the various responsibilities of the 45 member culinary team. Students then work with Chef Richard Gras and his team to prepare all the elements of a four-course luncheon, which is served family style and paired with a selection of fine wines.

ATLANTA (GA) – A Georgia teen turned up the heat in the kitchen on Saturday, May 17, emerging as “Best Teen Chef 2008.” Jonathan Miller of Savannah, GA won the Best Teen Chef Final Round Competition, sponsored by The International Culinary Schools at The Art Institutes, becoming the ninth winner to lay claim to the title since the Competition’s inception in 2000.
