SCAD presents annual fashion show with John Galliano – Savannah, Georgia

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Savannah College of Art and Design will honor fashion legend John Galliano at the college’s annual fashion show Saturday, May 17, at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Trustees Theater, 216 E. Broughton St. Vogue editor-at-large André Leon Talley and SCAD President Paula S. Wallace will present Galliano with the André Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award at the 8 p.m. show.

This Weekend the Annual Duke Ellington Concert – Savannah, Georgia

Featuring The Savannah Jazz Orchestra w/Sam Skelton
The Coastal Jazz Association presents a tribute to Duke Ellington on Sunday, April 27, 2008 which will feature special guest saxophonist, Sam Skelton .  As a woodwind doubler, Mr. Skelton is well versed in any genre of music. His grasp of saxophone, clarinet and flute has enabled him to remain very busy in live performance as well as in the studio.

This event will be celebrating the legacy left by one of America’s greatest musicians/composers for what would have been his 109th birthday (born April 29, 1899).

Every year The Savannah Jazz Orchestra, under the co-leadership of Teddy Adams and Randy Reese, features both unfamiliar compositions and special guest artists as a part of enhancing the genius of every Ellington concert.

SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival – Savannah, Georgia

Sidewalk Arts Festival SavannahThe Savannah College of Art and Design presents the annual Sidewalk Arts Festival April 26, 2008. This popular event features a chalk drawing competition on the sidewalks of Savannah’s centerpiece, beautiful Forsyth Park. Drawing competition entries will be judged and awarded prizes. The event also includes food, and children’s and youth areas for young artists as well as live music throughout the day.

Admission is free and open to the public. The chalk competition features categories for students, alumni and prospective students.
