Learn more about the rich tradition of Madeira wine in Savannah during this event at Davenport House. The event takes place on Friday evenings and Saturday evenings at 5:30 p.m. on February 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 22, and 23. John Sayles film “Honeydripper” Free Screening – Savannah, Georgia
John Sayles received the prestigous life-time achievement award for directing at Savannah Film Festival this fall. At this time the film was screened, but if you missed it, here’s your chance. There will be a special free screening of Honeydripper on Tuesday, February 5 at 7:30 p.m. presented by the Lucas Theatre, Black Heritage Festival and the Savannah Film Society. This show is free and open to the public.
There will also be a special appearance by the film’s director (John Sayles) and producer (Maggie Renzi) immediately following the film.

Select vocalists vie for more than $30,000 in cash awards and other prizes in four-day event
SAVANNAH, Georgia – The 15th annual American Traditions Competition returns to its original venue, the historic First African Baptist Church, for this year’s final round at Savannah Music Festival. The illustrious four-day vocal showcase hosts 33 singers from around the United States between March 26 and 29, 2008. Judges narrowed the field of talent to these gifted vocalists after receiving the greatest number of applicants in the last five years.
