Scarecrow Stroll – St Marys
This event is part of the Hay Days in St Marys. The Downtown Merchants will be hosting an evening of fun for your entire family called “The Scarecrow Stroll.” During the hours of 5-7PM visitors are invited to view all of the creative scarecrows, enjoy free hay rides down main street and pick up a treat from downtown businesses.
Build Your Own Scarecrow for Hay Days in St Marys
Hay Days comes to St. Marys October 11th and to kick-off the fun-filled family event, you can build your own Scarecrow. Come out and enjoy the fall season with your kids. Kids of all ages are invited to Build-A-Scarecrow at Orange Hall on Saturday, October 11th at 10:00 AM.
You’ll get your own Scarecrow kit for only $20. Some of the scarecrows will placed on display downtown, or you can choose to take your scarecrow home to bring a touch of autumn to your garden.
The main street of St. Marys will be decorated with scarecrows for Hay Days. Local merchants and organizations have a grand time coming up with the most innovative scarecrows.
The annual Hay Day festivities will continue through November 1st. The schedule of events is to be announced.
St Marys Rock Shrimp Festival
The 2008 St. Marys Rock Shrimp Festival, presented by the Kiwanis Club of St. Marys, Georgia, takes place October 4 in Downtown St. Marys. The 36th annual event features 1.5K, 5K, and 10K runs, a parade, arts & crafts displays, kids games in the park, a variety of food, and is highlighted by a rock shrimp dinner that includes fried rock shrimp, boiled shrimp, fried fish and accompaniments. Dinners will be served from 11 am to 6 pm the day of the event.
St. Marys has often been recognized as the “Rock Shrimp Capital,†famous for the hard-shelled shrimp with the sweet lobster-like taste that is prevalent in the Coastal Georgia and Northeast Florida waters.
Area residents and visitors have the opportunity to save 25% on their dinner tickets for this year’s St. Marys Rock Shrimp Festival. Advance tickets are now on sale for $9 (tickets on the day of the event will be $12).Advance Rock Shrimp Festival tickets can be purchased at the following locations:

‘Where the River Ends” – Book Signing in St Marys
The best-selling author Charles Martin is visiting. St. Marys on Saturday September 27th for a book signing event at Marianne’s in downtown. The author will read from his book Where the River Ends and sign books for fans. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet with the author of this popular book.
