Harvest Fest John’s Island County Park – Charleston, SC

November 2, 2009 by Susanne Talentino

Long ago, families would gather to give thanks and celebrate harvest season with a day of feasting, games, music, and fun. Now the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission brings this tradition back by hosting the 8th Annual Harvest Fest Saturday, November 7 at Mullet Hall Equestrian Center in John’s Island County Park.

Come on down from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and lend your ears to foot-stompin’, live blue-grass music from five local bluegrass bands. There is plenty of fun things to do for the whole family from hay rides, a stick pony corral, pumpkin decorating, penny diving, lasso demonstrations, and scarecrow making contests. Feast on finger-lickin’ Carolina barbeque, turkey legs, roasted corn on the cob, kettle korn, and creamy stone-ground grits.

Admission is $5 per person. Kids 12 and under and Annual Gold Pass holders are admitted free. For more information, please call 795-4FUN or visit www.ccprc.com.
