Kinderkonzerts: The Jammin’Town Musicians – Summerville, South Carolina

The Charleston Symphony Orchestra, and Resident Conductor Scott Terrell, will present this season’s popular Kinderkonzert, The Jammin’ Town Musicians. Two performances of this entertaining, child-friendly concert will take place at 10:00 and 11:30 AM.

Designed for young children, Kinderkonzerts are fun, casual concerts that expose kids to music in an entertaining way. Ten musicians from the Charleston Symphony and Scott Terrell will start off the morning with a quick ride through the Kabalevsky’s Commedian’s Galop. Children are encouraged to dance and enjoy themselves during Scott Joplin’s ever-popular Maple Leaf Rag. The feature presentation will be Edie Hill’s Jammin’ Town Musicians; a humorous musical journey adapted from the Brothers Grimm fairytale, The Bremen Town Musicians. Narrator Anthony Pierce will lead the audience in the story of a colorful group of animals that decide to leave their hometown to become musicians. Choose to attend this performance at either 10:00 AM or 11:30 AM. All Kinderkonzerts are free of charge.

Books Alive Presents Secret Garden – Jacksonville, Florida

THE SECRET GARDEN (1993) – A young British girl born and reared in India loses her neglectful parents in an earthquake. She is returned to England to live at her uncle’s castle. She begins to exploring the estate and discovers a garden that has been locked and neglected. Aided by one of the servants’ boys, she beings restoring the garden, and eventually discovers some other secrets of the manor.

Next month’s Books Alive film will be held on April 27th featuring Mary Poppins.

Grand Opening of New Stingray Bay Exhibit at the Zoo – Jacksonville, Florida

Seaweed-Cutting Ceremony Set For Saturday, March 1 at 10 a.m.

The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens’ newest exhibit, Stingray Bay, officially opens with a special seaweed-cutting ceremony on Saturday, March 1 at 10:00 a.m.  Guests will have the opportunity to interact with the stingrays by petting and feeding them as they swim in a 17,000-gallon pool.  This exciting, interactive exhibit is made possible by of the generous support from Jacksonville’s hometown supermarket Winn-Dixie.

“This is the only opportunity in Jacksonville for families to interact with stingrays,” said Dennis Pate. “Kids large and small will enjoy and learn about these sea creatures that live right off the First Coast.”

Night Owl Cinema – Star Wars – St Augustine, Florida

The Night Owl Cinema series at St. Augustine Amphitheatre presents the classic Sci-Fi movie: Star Wars This is a great movie for the whole family, especially if your kids haven’t seen this movie on the big screen. The Night Owl Cinema series consists of screenings under the star for Free.
