Amelia Island Hosts Storytelling Event in Jacksonville
Children experience 1880’s through First Person Character
AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. (July 28, 2008) – The Amelia Island Tourist Development Council (TDC) is hosting a free storytelling event for children (ages six and up) on Tuesday, August 12 at 2:30 p.m. in the Children’s area of the Mandarin Branch of the Jacksonville Public Library (3330 Kori Road). Designed to entertain and educate children about Northeast Florida in the 1880s, the event will feature Amelia Island resident and author, Dickie Anderson, portraying Emma Goddard, a Victorian lady visiting Amelia Island in 1882.

Downtown Fernandina Beach will be transformed into an outdoor art gallery. All day Saturday and Sunday, more than 125 artists from across the nation will gather for the 2nd Annual Amelia Island Art Festival. The fine art on display will include a broad spectrum of media: copper sculptures, handcrafted fine jewelry, functional and decorative pottery, original paintings, photography and more.
