The Shrimp Festival will dish out boatloads of fresh seafood and shrimp
dishes, as local volunteer organizations prepare and serve an astounding
assortment of menu items, including shrimp pie, shrimp twisters, crawfish,
Cajun shrimp etouffee, fried shrimp and shrimp jambalaya. Other items such as
hamburgers, french fries and corn dogs are available.

Tour de Georgia Start – Tybee Island, Georgia

From the salty marshes and ocean shoreline of the Georgia coast to the majestic skyline of the Blue Ridge Mountains, 12 Georgia communities have been selected as the official Host Venues for the sixth annual Tour de Georgia, scheduled in April. The Tour de Georgia is a seven-day professional race and maintains its position on the international cycling calendar as a major tune-up for July’s Tour de France. The Tour de Georgia continues to be the longest weeklong stage race in North America with over 650 miles of scenic byways and highways across the state. It is also one of the highest ranked stage races outside of Europe with a 2.HC rating from the Union Cycliste Internationale (international governing body of cycling) and is on of the top races on the USA Professional Cycling Tour.

Geocaching for Island Treasures – Jekyll Island, Georgia

Join us for the 2nd Annual Geocaching for Island Treasures on Jekyll Island March 1st! Experienced (meaning you know how to use your GPS) Geocachers please. We’ll meet at 11 a.m. at the Jekyll Island Airport. This year, we will place 10 Island Treasures (glass art floats) and 20 gift certificates. You will place a flag when you find it so no one is hunting around for nothing. Coordinates will be handed out at the airport.

St Simons Lighthouse on Georgia Travel Guide 2008
