The 2nd concert of the Jacksonville Beach Summer Jazz Series is scheduled for Sunday, July 12 starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Sea Walk Pavilion. Headlining is Eric Darius, nationally renowned Tampa based jazz saxophonist, at 7:30 p.m. The Toronto electro jazz group, Four 80 East, with special guest Shilts, Paul Weimar, from London and a former member of Down-to-the-Bone, performs at 6.00 pm. The local favorite C1Jazz will kick things off at 5 p.m.
The next Summer Jazz concert is scheduled for August 9.
These concerts are free. Just bring your blanket or lawn chair and all your friends and plan for an cool, relaxing evening under the stars.
On Saturday July 11th, colonial history comes alive at the Horton House on Jekyll Island. At this historic site you’ll be able to hear re-enactors tell the story of the 1742 Spanish attack on Horton House following the Battle of Bloody Marsh.
You can also sample Major William Horton’s ginger ‘ale’ or root ‘beer’ in honor of Georgia’s first brewery, which was located at this spot.
There will be drills and demonstration, and colonial games on the lawn.
The Living History Event at Horton House is co-sponsored by Fort Frederica National Monument and the Jekyll Island Museum.
Presentation by colonial re-enactors will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2009, 2:00 pm on the grounds of the Horton House Historic Site. Admission is free.

Enjoy the sunset and cool off in the ocean breeze. Local DJ Rob Duren will turn up the heat on the pier with the hottest oldies and beach music around.
In the month of July the Moonlight mixers take place on July 10th and July 31st from 7pm – 11pm.
Beverages are available for purchase on-site and food and snacks will be available for purchase at Locklear’s Beach City Grill and the Gangplank Gift & Tackle Shop.
You have to purchase tickets, and these tickets often sell out, so make sure to buy yours in advance.
